Coinciding with the commemoration of the 2,100th anniversary of the founding of Girona, this book explains the urban development of the modern city from the mid-19th century to the present, with an eye on the future, presenting the various current plans for renewal and growth over the coming decades. It includes around a hundred original plans, historical documents, drawings, photographs, and reproductions which, on the one hand, showcase the main urban planning schemes of Girona since the demolition of the city walls and, on the other, the specific projects that have shaped the creation and character of various neighborhoods and areas: La Devesa, the banks of the Ter and Domeny, the market gardens of Santa Eugènia, the Archaeological Promenade, the Old Town (Barri Vell), the Sant Daniel valley, Les Pedreres, Sant Narcís, El Mercadal, Migdia Park, and Central Park Rafael Masó. It concludes with a presentation of the most recent projects, such as ecological connectivity initiatives and developments in areas like the Barcelona Road corridor and the new Josep Trueta Health Campus, among others.
